Computer Aided Retrieval

A document management system based upon traditional microfilming is efficient, versatile and cost-effective.

With further augmentation by a Computer Aided Retrieval system it provides increased efficiency through optimally fast access.

'blip' coding As documents are microfilmed a series of marks ('blips') are made onto the edge of the film. Single blips mark image frame boundaries whilst operator controlled double blips annotate logical document groupings i.e. folders or jobs. A microfilm reader under computer control can be instructed to spool directly to a specific frame within a certain grouping - hence locating a particular image.

Document Retrieval

The CAR (Computer Aided Retrieval) module within our CG Gold document management system exploits this technology using its powerful cross-reference search facilities for the efficient retrieval of microfilmed documents. The system is compact and takes up very little office space. It can be upgraded as a business expands or its information system develops.

Automatic indexing

CG Gold can take data from a client's existing database to create search fields automatically for the retrieval of documents. This reduces the amount of indexing required considerably, and keeps costs to a minimum.

  • Documents are collected, microfilmed, and blip coded at our purpose built premises.
  • The images are then indexed into the CG Gold document management system.
  • These indexes are electronically transmitted to the client to update their system.
  • All indexed films are returned to the client by our own transport.

Cosmo Graphis document management systems are easy to operate and staff training is provided.

Should any operating problems occur, our sales and software support teams are always available to provide a fast, efficient service.
